The Bushy Creek Municipal Utility District has implemented Stage 1 voluntary water restrictions to conserve the water supply during the hot and dry conditions.

Under the restrictions, residents who live in odd-numbered addresses may water their lawns on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Residents who live in even-numbered addresses may water on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. People are asked to water lawns no more than twice a week.

Residents are also allowed to use automatic sprinklers between 12:01 and 7 a.m. on the recommended days based on their address. Hose-end sprinklers may be used only before 10 a.m. or after 7 p.m., according toa news release from the utility district.

The utility district covers several neighborhoods west of Round Rock, including Cat Hollow, Sendero Springs, Brushy Creek Village and Highland Horizon.

The restrictions are part of the MUD's Drought Contingency Plan to reduce the risk of its water source, Lake Georgetown and LakeStillhouse, falling to critically low levels during the severe drought conditions, according tothe release. The MUD also enforces the Brazos River Authority's conservation plan since the MUD receives water that is under its jurisdiction.

The city of Round Rock issued similar restrictions on June 29. The Brazos River Authority implemented its contingency plan to reduce water usage by 5%, according to the news release.
