STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Numerous pets have been adopted thanks to your attention, but there are still so many others who need someone like you to love them.

You have no idea the amount of dedication and time the volunteers at the animal rescues listed below spend looking for homes for these special friends. They organize pet events every week, send out announcements, hold fundraisers, help with supplies, clean cages, feed animals, make sure the pets’ medical needs are attended to and so much more. All of this is done without pay and behind the scenes.

Please remember, in addition to the cute pups and kittens, there are loving senior and disabled pets who need your tender care and attention, too.

Would you like to share your space with a new kitty? Check them out.

Hans is the purrfect kitten. He gets an E for excellent on his report card in all areas. This cutie is sweet, gentle, playful, likes to be held, gets along well with others, is a purr machine, and very handsome. Bet he's neat and tidy when eating and using the litter box. Hans will make a wonderful addition to any household. Hans was born at the end of Jan 2022, is up to date with vaccines, negative for FIV / FELV, & will be neutered and microchipped when age appropriate. He can be seen in his foster home by appointment, or on the days he is at Petco Bricktown Way or PetSmart 1525 Forest Ave. for adoption events. For more information, contact SICAW at 718.948.5623, Monday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Home visit is required for adoption. Find out more about adoption process and fill out an application here: https://www.sicawsaves.org/adoption-process (COURTESY/SICAW)

In addition...Another gift. Meet Riley.

Riley is a lap cat and very sweet. He loves to greet people with a friendly meow and lay next to his person to receive pets. He enjoys playtime — especially with wand toys. Riley is a special cat who can’t wait to find a family of his own. More information: Visit ASPCA.org/Adopt to learn more and submit an application.

Do you love dogs? Do you love beer? Then fetch a cold one at the Flagship Brewing Co.’s Dog Club. The club will meet every Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the Flagship Brewery taproom, 40 Minthorne St., off Bay Street.

The Flagship’s Dog Club is for that special breed of dog and beer lovers who can bring their (well-behaved) pups to the meetings. Once a month, there will be a guest speaker to talk about their own specialty or knowledge regarding the welfare of their treasured, loyal friends.
