Fountain Hills Community Services is helping people build their appetite for turkey, fillings and pumpkin pie through the 31st Annual Turkey Trot 5K and the Fitness Walk on Thanksgiving morning. This 5k running and fitness activity is a favorite within the valley, and participants can tour around the World Fountain in Fountain Park.
Turkish trot provides something for all levels of health in the family. Participants can choose 5K timed running, 5K fitness walk or 1 mile fitness walk. There is also a Thanksgiving-themed costume competition. Registration for the event includes traditional long-sleeved T-shirts.
To register for Turkey Trot, please visit www.fhturkeytrot.com. Registration is open until 6:00 pm, November 24 (Wednesday). Trot starts at 7:15 in the morning at Fountain Avenue on Verde Avenue.
The cost of the 31st Annual Turkey Trot 5K running and fitness walk is US$40, 5K timed running, 5K running (non-timed) and 12 or less participants are US$25, and 1 mile of fun walking is US$20. Fun Run and Fitness Walk will start on time at 7:15 in the morning. Parents with strollers and baby joggers are welcome to join. However, please leave pets at home. The race route starts and ends at Fountain Avenue and runs a circle around Fountain Park. Check www.FHTurkeyTrot.com for race day parking and exit maps. There will be no on-site registration on the day of the event.
Parking spaces are available in the library and community center parking lot. Additional parking spaces are available on the surrounding ground streets, including Parkview Avenue, Verde River Drive and La Montana.
