If your holiday shopping has not been completed-even if you think you are done, you may not have completed it-and the gift list includes a pet for your loved one, please wait a moment. The common belief is that pets don’t exist because you don’t stuff them in socks and wrap them in a box—imagine the fear of this little animal, even if a hole is poked in the container—or put a Tuck it on others as a surprise. It is possible that surprises will not be welcome. Cats, dogs, or rabbits will end up in a shelter, pass from house to house, or be thrown somewhere.

However, promising to pay adoption fees for the pets your loved ones have always wanted is what a great gift. You don’t buy gifts like you are promoting a hopeful, eternal relationship. It is good for all relevant personnel, including you.

Every year, The Scratching Post will provide this coupon, which you can print and give to friends, relatives or children who desire pets. Download and print it out, or email it to lucky recipients.

Then, tell them to scan photos of animals in rescue or shelters (see the full list of local organizations under adoption, adoption, and adoption at the end of this column). If the person is fascinated by a particular breed or type of pet, please send its link to Petfinder.com to find a purebred or mixed breed that can be adopted. (Please do not click on Craigslist. There are already a large number of pets in need in shelters and rescues.)

After your friend or relative is screaming and furious over a photo or video of a cat, dog, or rabbit, please make an appointment with a pet. I walked to the date place with the coupon in my hand, watching the lucky people and animals become warm and cute, wiped away the tears, and paid the adoption fee. If you feel that you are particularly magnanimous, or just think it would be good to do so, then in spring looking for food, toys, leashes, litter boxes and any animals need to feel at home.

Fortunately, Pawlidays House will be held at PetSmart at Long Beach Exchange this Saturday, and you can postpone the appointment by one day. The event is a joint effort of the Little Lion Foundation and Cat Bay Rescue, Long Beach Animal Care Service, Long Beach Exchange and District 4 City Councilman Stacy Mungo.

The "Adopt Waggin" of Long Beach Animal Care Services will be launched soon. Volunteers will show you all the wonderful animals on board.

You can do a lot of holiday stuff there—buy art, crafty socks, and larger gifts; meet cats and dogs in person and adopt them; and buy everything your pet needs on PetSmart. Lottery baskets and gift bags will be provided, and well-behaved pets and children can also sit on Santa’s lap and pray to him for a better world (or chewing on bones, missing kitten mint mice under the refrigerator, or Pokémon battle deck If they insist).

"The volunteers from Lion Cub and Cat Bay gave me a lot of inspiration. I had to lend a helping hand to support this special event. It will adopt the family and pets together," Mungo said. "Pet adoption is my passion, this fun activity will make everyone's day full of energy, and I hope people will bring a new pet home during the holidays and bring them some extra cheers!"

Get detailed information about Home for the Pawlidays, print out the coupon while filling a bowl with bones and tuna, and make some early gifts for loved ones and future pets.

The following are some candidates from the Little Lion Foundation and Cat Bay. The Little Lion Foundation also launched a promotion in December to provide a 50% discount on black or tuxedo cats, with the aim of letting them wear evening dresses on New Year’s Eve.

Petunia is a very cute 1-year-old girl. She likes the attention of foster families and will crawl onto their laps to hug them. Petunia's eyes were cloudy when she was found. She has been to the veterinarian in Cat Bay. The veterinarian said that this is either a birth defect or a very old injury, and no further care is needed at this time. This has not stopped her from enjoying literature; she has just completed the "Leap of Faith" and will put one right on your lap.

Lilith was born in April 2021. Her foster caretakers find her round and sweet. She likes pets and hugs, and actively seeks human love. She is also very friendly to the dogs, cats and children in the family. Lilith will want someone who likes to give and receive love and hugs. She needs a kitten friend to play in her new home.

Wilbur is a community cat that appears in the home of Cat Cove volunteers (they always know who it is, don't they?). It is estimated that Wilbur was born in 2011, about 10 years old. He had to remove one eye and 21 teeth, and his FIV was positive. Nevertheless, he is a happy and healthy boy, now looking for his permanent indoor home. As the only kitten, Wilbur will be very happy so that he can also get your attention!

Mack and Amelia, like Si and Am in "Lady and the Tramp", are close partners, but better than their opponents in the movie. This energetic duo makes a perfect pair! Both Mack and Amelia are one year old and do everything together. They like to play and will make you happy for hours! Their favorite things include taking their favorite toys, snuggling and playing in the whole house!

Willow is a beautiful 9-month-old kitten who has broken two legs after being rescued from the shelter! She had several operations to repair them, and now she is standing on all fours faster than ever! Her adoptive mother called her a wild child. When she was not begging for her attention, she would run around the house and wrestle with her adopted sister. She likes to hug, kiss and love to bite. She even followed her adoptive parents to seek attention around the house. Although it may take a little time for her to get used to it, she will like to have another naughty kitten at home to help her consume energy, but if you often play with her and give her attention, she will become a very good one Single cat. She doesn't like dogs-her adoptive mother has tried it!

Shamu is a slender, handsome, 4 ½ month old tuxedo kitten, ready for the hot spots of New Year's Eve. When he was rescued from the shelter, the infection had permanently damaged his eyes. To prevent further problems and pain, his eyes were removed. Shamu is an independent and naughty little boy-he will snuggle with you on the sofa, but only in his time. His favorite toys are feather sticks, climbing and chasing. He'd better stay at home with another cat who needs interaction and playmates. He likes to play with his adopted sister Dawn, but they have no feelings between them. This doesn't mean you shouldn't take her home either!

Dogs at Long Beach Shelter have been vaccinated against canine flu and leptospirosis

An animal health alert regarding canine influenza (CIV H3N2) and leptospirosis outbreaks in Los Angeles County was recently issued. Both diseases have any symptoms ranging from mild to fatal. Canine flu does not spread to humans, but it can be infected by cats in rare cases. Leptospirosis is a bacterial infection that humans can infect.

"We have not found any cases in our shelter. In order to deal with potential cases, the LBACS medical team has vaccinated most of our dog population in the past few weeks and has strengthened their ability to fight canine influenza. In addition, they have provided them with chips. And rabies vaccine. Those dogs that need it," said Staycee Dains, director of Long Beach Animal Care Services. "This is an amazing team effort, everyone is so focused and efficient. As long as we can get vaccinated, we will continue to vaccinate dogs that enter the shelter with CIV."

The director of veterinary public health made the following recommendations to pet owners:

The latest information on the spread of the disease can be obtained here.

If you have always wanted a pet but are not sure if you are ready to accept a lifetime (animal) commitment, or if you have passed the life of a pet roommate for any reason, then foster care may be a good way, especially When one or more kittens appear during the kitten season. Each of the organizations listed below desperately needs foster caregivers who can interact with them and help save their little lives. Who knows-maybe one of these lives will change your perception of unprepared roommates!

These non-profit organizations also regularly adopt cats, dogs and rabbits. Currently, adoptions are mainly through appointments. Kittens also need foster care. In case of updates or changes, click on the link for each rescue. These organizations operate through donations and grants, and you can provide anything.
