Boil water notice lifted for businesses at Virginia Beach shopping center

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The boil water notice that was issued for all businesses in the Marketplace at Hilltop Shopping Center in Virginia Beach has been lifted.

The notice, issued by the Virginia Beach Department of Public Utilities on Tuesday, was lifted after the department concluded its water sample testing. Officials say the second round of water samples has passed testing, meeting all state and federal requirements for drinking water quality.

Impacted businesses can return to using the public water system as usual but are reminded to flush their cold water taps for 2-3 minutes prior to first use.

A contractor working in the area of Laskin Road and First Colonial Road earlier Tuesday hit a water line, city officials say.
